ASI BeAnywhere is a handy remote access tool which comes on a USB drive and runs directly from it. This novel approach means that no software has to be installed to access a remote PC so it's ideal for use in internet cafes or on other public computers. It is easy to set up and get running and lets you do everything on the remote PC as if you were sitting in front of it.
The fact that BeAnywhere comes on a USB drive is really a bit of a novelty, but might be useful for some people. The other alternative would be to choose a service which provides access through a web browser, but BeAnywhere does have a slight advantage in that a desktop client can often offer richer functionality than a web based one can. The downside is that if you forget to bring the USB drive with you it's just not possible to access any of your remote PCs.
The functionality and features BeAnywhere provides are very useful. As well as straightforward remote control of the target computer, you can easily transfer files between computers and even synchronize complete folders at the click of a button. It is also possible to set up a secure download link to share files from your PC with other people directly and this can be limited as to how many downloads are allowed and who can use the link.
The BeAnywhere setup process is very straightforward. The installer will pop up when you insert the USB drive and then the client must be installed on any PC that you want to be able to access. After that, you can insert the drive into any other PC and choose which PC you want to take control of. The software uses a server in the middle to initiate any connections so it should work behind any router or firewall configurations, but this means that you must renew your license each year to continue using it.
Security is well taken care of with BeAnywhere which makes it safe to use even on publicly accessible computers. A master account password is required on set up and each PC you want to access requires its own separate password. All communications between computers are then encrypted so that no intruders can intercept what you are doing.
BeAnywhere is an excellent remote access tool for home users who often use public computers. It is a breeze to set up and, unlike some similar solutions, allows you to control 3 PCs on one license. Unfortunately no free trial is available, but the price is quite reasonable and we are sure you won't be disappointed.
