Netviewer provides a range of remote access style applications to fit your exact needs. We will mainly look at Netviewer Support and Netviewer Meet here, but there are also other services available: one which is aimed at businesses that need a remote administration solution, and the other for anyone who needs a solution for presenting multimedia content live over the web.
Netviewer Support is the main remote access and support solution on offer. It is a well developed and professional application which is ideal for small to medium businesses that need to provide online support to their end users. It allows the supporter to either view the user's screen and use a pointer to show them what to do or take full remote control of the system. It is also possible to get a full software and hardware specification of the machine with just a few clicks. One of the most useful things about the software is that the end user does not have to install anything; they simply visit a website to make a connection and allow a supporter to access their computer.
Netviewer Meet is a product which allows you to host online meetings on your PC which anyone, even without installing a copy of the software, can join. Participants in the meeting can communicate using text, video or voice chat and make use of the communal whiteboard feature. They can also view everything that happens on the host's desktop which makes Netviewer Meet ideal for hosting interactive demos or training seminars. For non-commercial use the software is completely free so it's well worth giving it a try at home, perhaps for showing relatives or friends how to perform certain tasks on their computers.
Security across Netviewer's range of products is top notch and works very similarly no matter which one you are using. All communications between computers are encrypted using 128-bit encryption and users must identify themselves with a unique key phrase. It is also possible to lockdown the host system immediately so that it if an unauthorised user does gain access they can be shut out instantly.
Netviewer provides professional products mainly aimed at the business market. While many other companies bundle all of these features together into one product, Netviewer separates them and provides more functionality in each product. However, this comes at a price and Netviewer's monthly costs are quite high when compared to similar solutions. Netviewer Meet is free for private use though so we recommend giving it a try before committing to a commercial license.
