PCNow by WebEx is a highly secure and versatile remote access solution for PCs and Macs. WebEx is part of the Cisco group so the quality of the software can be guaranteed by a big name in networking products. Home and business users alike should find everything they need in a remote access tool with PCNow and at very reasonable prices.
PCNow provides a straightforward solution to accessing computers remotely with the minimum of fuss. It is easy to remotely access the full functionality of the remote computer from a web browser anywhere in the world. Once logged in, you can use the programs on the target computer, transfer files, invite other users to share your desktop and more. This makes it ideal for anyone who works from a number of different computers or who often has to collaborate on projects remotely. One testimonial on the website is even from a man who uses the software to solve his mother's computer problems remotely - saving him time and sanity!
One of PCNow's most notable features is that it is fully compatible with both PCs and Macs so you can control a Mac with a PC or vice versa. This makes it a very useful choice for people who perhaps have a Mac at home but work on a PC in the office. The remote control functionality works a treat with the Mac version, but some of the features found on the PC version aren't available - such as the ability to hear sounds from the system or print remotely. However, PCNow still offers some of the best Mac support that we have seen from a remote access tool.
The set up process for PCNow is extremely simple and only takes a few minutes once you have signed up for an account. You simply install the client software on the computer you want to access and allow it to maintain a connection to the PCNow servers. After that it's simply a case of signing into the website and selecting the computer that you want to access. Everything happens through a web browser (on a desktop computer or mobile phone) and you get a view of the desktop on the remote computer just as if you were sitting in front of it. Due to the fact that the client application holds a connection to the PCNow servers, there are no firewall or router issues to think about and the software should work from behind the most complex of network configurations.
Security is very well implemented in PCNow and all the necessary procedures are in place to keep your computer safe from intruders. As standard, all communications between computers are encrypted using 128-bit SSL which is the leading technique for internet transfers. A password is required to access the main PCNow account and then separate passwords are required for each of the computers you have access to. As a third level of authentication you can also set the service up so that it will call a designated phone number whenever someone tries to access the remote computer and you will have to put in a secret passcode using phone's keypad. This is something that many products don't offer so it may swing the deal if security is a big consideration in your requirements.
PCNow provides an excellent solution for anyone looking for a remote access tool that can be used on both PCs and Macs. The range of features, access from mobile devices as standard and the optional third phone-call layer of security mean that PCNow offers great value for money no matter how many computers you need to be able to control. Discounts are available if you pay annually and competitive enterprise prices are available on request. There is even a free one month trial on offer so we strongly recommend giving it a try.
